Apps

This lady I work with read an article that mentioned different apps for the iPhone that come in handy when you have a baby.  She was nice enough to forward the article to me, so naturally I read it and checked out the apps.  There were a few I wasn't too thrilled with, but some will really come in handy when the baby comes.

The first app is called Baby Connect.  It allows you to keep track of how long the baby sleeps for, when you last fed the baby, last diaper change, etc.  I was planning on keeping records of this stuff in a journal but now I can simply plug the info into my phone.  More handy than toting a journal around everywhere.

The second app I downloaded is called Ambiance.  It allows you to select different sounds to create "white noise" to help ease a baby to sleep or just simply calm them down.  I enjoy singing so I don't know how often I'll use the app, but I'll definitely try it out.  There are likely some noises that Scott and I won't be able to make that the app will.

I also downloaded a couple of photography apps.  We'll likely use our camera a lot, but there will be times when my phone is easier to get to.  The photo apps are Diptic and Project 365.  The Diptic allows you to combine 2 or more pictures into one collage.  That way instead of posted 4 different pictures on Facebook or somewhere else, you can just post one that displays multiple pics at the same time.  The Project 365 app has you take one picture a day for a year so you can see how your baby has changed.

I'll give these all a try once Torrance is born.  They look pretty fun though and I'm sure they'll come in handy!

4 lbs and counting

Scott and I went to yet another OB appointment today.  Now that I'm getting closer (8 more weeks), I need to go in every 2 weeks.  Today my doctor estimated that our little girl is about 4 lbs.  I get weekly emails about my pregnancy and this week's stated that the baby will grow an average of 0.5 lbs/week.  If that's the case, Torrance will be about 8 lbs.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed she won't be any bigger than that!  Like every appointment we have, everything is normal and on schedule, which is very comforting.  Our girl's movements are getting stronger and painful at times.  She's a strong little thing already so I can only imagine what she'll be like once she's here.  As always, Scott and I are counting down the days until we can meet our precious girl.

On a side note, we've got some home repairs going on...or at least they will be soon.  Our basement bathroom shower has been out of commission since about January.  We noticed that water was leaking under the tile which is causing the tiles to lift up.  Since we'll be having visitors in October (my parents) once Tori is born, we decided it was time to get the shower repairs going.  We had someone come by the house last night to assess the damage.  It doesn't seem like it'll be too hard of a project, but it's not something Scott and I could do ourselves...well at least properly.  We're hoping to get the shower fixed in about two weeks.  That leaves us plenty of time before my parents get here.

Cooperative girl

I had my 30 week OB check up yesterday and all is going well.  Scott and I learned that our little girl has already turned and is "head down" and getting ready for delivery.  This will likely eliminate all risk of her being breech at any point in my last two months.  The OB told me that since she's already "head down" this early, she'll likely stay that way - yay!  This was good news as I'd like to avoid a c-section at all costs.  Our little one is about 3.25 lbs right now (give or take) and is in good shape.  I've been lucky to have a uncomplicated pregnancy.  We're keeping our fingers crossed that Torrance will continue to be cooperative once she arrives.  She still moves quite a bit but her kicks and punches are getting stronger.  I can only imagine what it'll feel like when she's almost full term.  I was able to feel her foot when she kicked me last night.  It caught me off guard at first because it was a new experience.  It's neat being able to feel her body moving around from the outside versus just feeling random jabs and not being able to distinguish where they're coming from.  It's like there's an alien living inside me.
